Duties and Responsibilities

Absent Voter Ballots

Absent Voter (AV) Ballots can be requested from the City Clerk up to six months in advance by filling out a form available in the office or by sending a letter stating; 1) Which election your are requesting the ballot; 2) The reason why you are not able to vote at your designated polling location and 3) Where you want the ballot mailed.   An original signature must be provided for each ballot.

The City of Essexville also maintains a permanent AV list.  If you would like to be placed on the permanent AV list and receive an application for an Absent Ballot please contact the Clerk’s office for information about the permanent list.   

Election Inspectors

If you are interested in becoming an election inspector and work on election days,  applications available at the City Clerk’s office. All election inspectors are required by state law to attend a school of instruction every two years.  The School of instruction is usually held in Bay County and lasts about two hours.

Registration For Elections

Registering to vote is simple and easy.  To qualify to vote you must be at least 18 years old by the date of the election, a citizen of the United States and a resident of the City of Essexville.  You can register to vote at any Secretary of State branch office, the County Clerk’s office or the City Clerk’s office.
